Home ยป Natural Methods for Anti Aging Skin Care

We all know beauty products for anti aging skin care have come a long way in the last few years, but when it comes to the ingredients used in these products, it is difficult to know whether the ingredients used will end up damaging our skin or body in the future. Of course not all such products are bad for you and many do work as well as the advertising claims. Still, when you use natural ways of keeping your skin looking as young as possible, you know the strategies you are using without having to be concerned with the consequences. Anti aging skin care is not just about creams and face washes, of course. Everything you do to your body affects your skin.

Real Anti Aging Skin Care to Reduce Wrinkles and Fine Lines

Stay hydrated.

Water is essential for anti aging skin care. When you do not drink enough water, your skin dries out and as you age, it will not only look dry, but it will wrinkle and sag to make you appear older than you actually are. The recommendation is that we drink at least one ounce of water for every two pounds of weight. This works out to drinking half our weight in non-caffeinated fluids. For example, if you weigh 130 pounds, you need to drink at least 65 ounces of water every day and if you workout or spend time in the sun, you need to drink even more water to keep your body and skin hydrated. Do not underestimate the power of water to keep your skin looking youthful.

If you do drink alcohol, try to limit your consumption. Alcohol dehydrates the body and can dry out your skin. A good rule of thumb is to take in an equal amount of water for every ounce of alcohol you consume.

If you smoke, quit.

Cigarette smoke is filled with harmful contaminates and inhaling it is not just an issue for the lungs. The toxic pollutants in tobacco smoke permeate the body’s cells and often results in cancer. Aside from that obvious reason for putting away the cigarettes, the simple act of pursing the lips to inhale from a cigar or cigarette promotes lines and wrinkles around the mouth and eyes. If you don’t believe it, just examine the face of a longtime smoker and compare to a non-smoker. For younger looking skin, follow the old directive: If you don’t smoke, don’t start. If you do smoke, quit.

Practice healthy eating habits.

We have all heard how fats are bad for us. It is true that too much fat can be hard on the system, but when you do not get enough of the good fats, such as those with Omega 3 and 6, you end up hurting your health and denying important nutrition to your skin. Eat eggs (no, they are not bad for you). For proper anti aging skin care, eat fish, avocados, nuts, and seeds! Be sure to get enough calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Vitamin C is another nutrient upon which the skin depends. Get your fruits and vegetables! We find out more about vitamins and minerals every year, and the more we learn, the more we understand that nutritional balance is the key to good health and protecting against premature aging.  A good rule of thumb is to fill half your plate with vegetables and fruits and divide the other half in two for proteins and carbohydrates. Your body, brain, and skin will thank you.

Get enough exercise.

Exercise gets your blood flowing and promotes cell renewal. Both of these are important for proper anti aging skin care as they keep the skin healthy and moist.  When we exercise, blood circulates and carbon dioxide and other waste products are released through perspiration and exhalation. In short, exercise aids in flushing out the system and then delivers nutrients and oxygen to all organs of the body, including the skin.

Get enough sleep.

Lack of rejuvenating rest disrupts all systems of the body and your skin is not an exception. The results of just one or two late nights can be seen in the skin under the eyes and around the mouth. When you continue to stay up late or even worse – stay up all night, you neglect the needs of your body and brain. It is not just your inside health that is affected.  As with exercise, sleep helps to heal the body and promotes renewal of the cells. Whether you are 22 or 50, you are not doing you or your skin any favors with all night partying, working, or worrying.  The need for quality sleep is integral for proper anti aging skin care.

Protect your skin.

Tanning may darken your skin and make you feel more attractive, but after years of spending time in the sun without protecting yourself, your skin will begin to see the results with premature lines and wrinkles. After this happens, there is little you can do besides using expensive over-the-counter products to minimize the aging look of your skin and these will not fix the issue. Other anti aging skin care options include cosmetic surgery and injections to smooth out your skin. Again, these only work for so long and can end up costing a fortune. When you have to go out in the sun, cover your skin or slather on sunscreen with high UV protection.

Take care of your eyes by protecting them with sunglasses and seeing your eye doctor on a regular basis. How does your vision affect the way your skin ages?  Well, after years of straining to see, you will develop lines and wrinkles around your eyes and on your forehead. Yes, everybody develops these as they get older, but there is no point in enhancing the problem with premature crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles.

Anti aging skin care is a daily routine. To prevent premature aging and avoid lines and wrinkles, take care of your entire body. Good health depends on it and your skin is not an exception to the rule.
